The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale University seeks to hire a scholar in the field of Japanese literary study who concentrates in any period from 1600 to the present. We encourage applications from scholars with any area of specialization, but we particularly encourage those with expertise in gender and sexuality studies, theater studies, media studies, or history of the book. This is an open-rank search, with appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications. Duties include teaching and advising at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
