Applications are invited for the position of Senior Lecturer in Japanese and Asian Studies. This is a permanent full time position and expected to commence in February 2017
The successful applicant will be an active member of the Japanese Programme who contributes to academic leadership particularly in relation to developing the Programme’s research profile and teaching expertise in Japanese Studies as well as enhancing research expertise in the study of Asia within the School and wider University.
Possible areas of specialisation might include but are not limited to Japanese cultural studies, gender studies, popular culture and history. The Senior Lecturer will maintain a high quality research record consistent with the research strategy of the School and of the University and enhance the capacity to supervise MA and PhD theses in Japanese and in the broad interdisciplinary area of Asian Studies and contribute to creating new 180-point Masters courses in this area.
The successful applicant will also contribute to administering and teaching Japanese language and culture courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and will have native or near-native Japanese and English language ability. Academic staff in the School are normally expected to teach an average of 7-8 hours per week.
