Fun Link Friday: Living inside the active volcano Aogashima

Japan contains some of the most breath-taking natural scenery in the world, but also is prone to a great number of natural perils like earthquakes and tsunami. But would you trade off living in a dream-like island setting where you can bathe in waterfalls and cook over natural saunas for the chance that it might some day erupt? That’s a question for the residents of Aogashima, and beautiful island about 200 miles from Tokyo.

Check out the neat little article done by the Smithsonian on what living on this gorgeous little island is like! There’s also a video of some of the amazing natural formations and sights around the island.

Happy Friday!
