The Department of History at Cornell University seeks applicants for an open-rank, tenure-track position in the history of Japan, period of specialization open, to begin July 2017.  We are particularly interested in candidates who can place the archipelago within regional and global contexts as well as situate their research and teaching around inter-disciplinary themes. Teaching responsibilities will include surveys in Japanese history, graduate and undergraduate courses in Japanese history, and courses in the candidate’s specific area of expertise. They must have their Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2017. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2017.
