Trinity University seeks a Study Abroad Advisor to join the International Programs Office. Applicants must have excellent organizational skills, work well under pressure, and have international or intercultural experience. Previous experience with some aspect of study abroad is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree in a related field.
The new Advisor will coordinate with the current Assistant Director of Study Abroad to advise and approve students for study abroad, assist in development and assessment of programs and initiatives, and inform students of the relevant academics, health and safety, and other issues associated with education abroad. This position encourages outreach efforts to expand access to study abroad, to collaborate with various departments and study abroad providers, and to help advisees identify funding resources. The Study Abroad Advisor will communicate with potential, current, and returned study abroad students, faculty, and staff and represent the division as necessary. The Advisor’s responsibilities include event coordination, record keeping, teaching “Preparing to Study Abroad” course, updating the program website, and assisting the International Programs Office as appropriate. A strong candidate would be student-friendly and would demonstrate maturity, sensitivity, patience, awareness, openness, and strong communication skills. A strong candidate would also have significant global knowledge and experiences to draw from when working with advisees. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Social Media expected. Website and CMS experience desirable.
