Salary and conditions: 55-60K (depending on experience) including bonus equivalent to one month’s salary plus 9% superannuation. Permanent appointment subject to 3 months probationary period. Working conditions (hours, entitlements) apply.
The Japan Foundation Sydney is seeking an experienced program coordinator, with proven success, to join a dynamic team managing end-to-end delivery of a broad range of arts and cultural events including the national Japanese Film Festival. The ideal candidate will possess strong Japanese language capabilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a consultative approach and the confidence to build stakeholder relationships at all levels. You will be a resourceful problem solver and a dedicated team player with a strategic outlook, committed to delivering projects on time and within budget within a fast-paced environment.
You will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following tasks:
- Plan and coordinate events and projects such as international art exhibitions and music performances
- Administrate local and head office based grant programs
- Provide end-to-end project management for large scale events including the Japanese Film Festival
- Negotiate and secure contracts with external venue partners for Arts programs and Film screenings
- Prepare Film Festival programming schedule for 10 venues around Australia
- Present ideas during cross departmental strategic planning sessions for both A&C and the Japanese Film Festival
- Assemble, motivate and engage with large teams of skilled volunteers to support and strengthen execution of public events
- Provide technical solutions and quality assurance across multiple film and video formats for the smooth delivery of the Japanese Film Festival
- Manage domestic and international freight logistics and scheduling for the Japanese Film Festival
- Travel interstate to handle on-site operations and staff management for the Japanese Film Festival
Selection Criteria
- Communication:
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and departments and to work co-operatively as a team member in a highly professional manner.
- Impressive client management skills and the ability to work autonomously to achieve effective outcomes which are on brief and reflect brand and stakeholder input.
- Intermediate Japanese Language skills (JLPT N3 + desirable)
Event Management:
A demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and execute a wide variety of programs and events while prioritising multiple tasks in a logical and time efficient manner.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing platforms as well as some experience in creating marketing strategies to integrate communications and maximise customer engagement, branding and awareness.
- Knowledge of market research practices including implementation and strategic analysis of primary and secondary data.
Technical:
- Demonstrated experience in the use and operation of technical equipment for use in public programs including PA systems, microphones and projection equipment.
- Moderate abilities using non-linear digital video/audio editing software and an understanding of current film, video and audio formats.
- Intermediate skills in MS excel (desirable).
