Call for Expressions of Interest: the Modern Art Asia Conference

Conference Date: November 2013
Conference Location: Online
Submission Deadline: Sept 1, 2013

At its foundation, Modern Art Asia was envisaged as a forum for early
career researchers to exchange and test ideas. In order to realise this
vision, we have for some time considered the feasibility of hosting a
conference, but our extremely international readership, and our desire
to be as inclusive as possible, has presented logistical obstacles.
However, we are now exploring the idea of hosting a conference virtually.
The increased availability of online conference technologies now makes
the real-time broadcast of conference papers possible. We are looking to
broadcast a live session of presentations, with accompanying slide
presentations, which will also be recorded for later distribution through
our site.

If you would be interested to participate in such a conference, please
send a short abstract of 250 words, describing a presentation on any area
of modern and contemporary Asian art, to by
September 1st. Papers will not exceed 30 minutes, including time for
questions. The conference is provisionally scheduled for November this year.
Presenters must have access to a webcam and reliable broadband internet
connection in order to participate.

I have been fortunate to enjoy the opportunity to live in Okinawa for six months in 2016-17, and in mainland Japan on multiple occasions, including from Sept 2019 to now.
