Duties:
As a representative of Benedictine University, the International Program Assistant will work with diverse groups of international students, staff, faculty, visitors, and Benedictine students who are preparing to study abroad. The primary role of the International Program Assistant is to facilitate the transition of international and education abroad students, faculty and staff in and out of Benedictine University through assisting in the planning, organization and execution of all International Programs and Services’ programming. Involvement will include aspects of program development, policy, coordination and communication with all Benedictine offices, colleges, and departments as necessary. This person will have excellent intercultural, advising, problem-solving, organizational and computer skills in order to keep up with the demands of the office and will be flexible for the scheduling needs of department programming. Other duties will include: serving as primary coordinator for all International Programs and Services annual activities and events including Festival of Asia, International Education week, Summer Campus, MEPI, Host Family Weekend, Global Awards dinner, etc; individual will maintain IPS social media including IPS Facebook page, keeping it current on a daily basis; updates the IPS website; attends university-wide program meetings and serve on committees where international input is needed; will build, recruit for and manage an International Buddy Program which assists new international students and return study abroad students make connection that will support student success and retention; will engage with Benedictine student organizations, building connections and cross-programming and advertising between the organizations, the IPS department and our current students; and will serve as an additional resource for international students and return study abroad students.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Relations or related field preferred.

Experience: Studying or living in a different culture; experience learning a second language

Specific Skills: Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and computer skills. Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office including Excel and Word necessary, PowerPoint preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to be a team player and manage multiple priorities including relating well to students and faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds a must.

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, and Certifications: Fluency in a second language, graphic design, web design, is not required but would be an added bonus.
