The Department of History and the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invite applications for a tenure-track assistant professor or tenure-eligible associate professor in Modern Japanese History with a target start date of August 16, 2012. This will be a joint appointment in two departments. The successful candidate will have a record of research excellence and publication in modern Japanese history or have potential to develop such a record.
