Responsibilities
The Department of Sociology/Anthropology/Criminal Justice invites applications for a tenure-track position in sociocultural anthropology at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2011.
We are seeking a teacher-scholar who complements current department interests. Regional specialization in the Middle East, North Africa, or East Asia (especially China) is preferred, and topical areas of interest include: identity politics (ethnic, nationalist, religious); transnationalism; global media/communication; visual representation; and new technologies. The University of Michigan-Flint stresses the importance of teaching excellence, student-centeredness, and scholarship/research. The teaching load is 3/3. In addition to teaching core Anthropology Program requirements, the candidate will be expected to contribute to the University?s General Education offerings, especially the First Year Experience,
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in anthropology (ABDs with degrees by time of appointment will be considered), teaching experience, and a record of research or publication are required.
