One of the great things about Japan is all the neat seasonal events and sites you can visit. But sometimes an unexpected treat pops up that you don’t see every day or even every fall. This year in Imabari, Tamagawa in Ehime prefecture (Shikoku), local residents and university professors got together over a period of 8 days to create giant boars out of straw.
A unique local art installation conceived of to bring life to the region, the giant parent boar and two baby boars took 200 people to put together. Their frames are constructed of wood and bamboo. Does anyone know if boars have a special significance to this area? If anyone’s down in Shikoku, you can go see the boars until the end of November!
