Tezuka Productions Co. has created a collection on Google Cultural Institute, an online resource of images and information from museums and archives all over the world, about Tezuka Osamu’s contributions to anime.

The collection has three exhibits. The first is Tezuka Osamu: The Dawn of TV Animation (1961-67), a collection of images, facts, and quotes about Tezuka’s canon, his relationship with Walt Disney, and his contributions to the medium of animation. The second is a content tour of the Tezuka Museum in Takarazuka-shi, Hyogo; and the final one is a street-view tour of the museum.

This is a great resource for students and fans of early Japanese animation and manga, and it’s a nice online introduction to Tezuka and his works. Hopefully Google Cultural Institute will feature more collections on Japanese history and pop culture in the future!
