The Wheaton College (MA) Department of History invites applications for a one-year Andrew W. Mellon Foundation postdoctoral fellowship in Asian history, beginning in fall 2014.  Candidates must have PhD in hand by June 30, 2014. The successful candidate may also be eligible for an additional one-year appointment as a visiting assistant professor, budget permitting. The fellow will teach three courses. Geographic field is open, with preference for China and/or South Asia. Chronological specialization is open, though applicants must be able to offer survey courses on modern China and/or modern India and advanced courses broadly focused on their areas of research. Candidates with research and/or teaching expertise in economic development, women’s history, gender, and/or diasporic/transnational connections between Asia and elsewhere in the world are encouraged to apply. The fellowship carries a stipend of $50,000 plus benefits, as well as a research and travel fund. Wheaton College only accepts electronic submissions.
