‘Japanese Dream’ is a translation of selected essays by Shuji Terayama, the film director, poet and icon of the Japanese counter-culture. 2013 marks the thirtieth anniversary of Terayama’s death, and this may be the only example of Terayama’s prose writing in English.
This is a limited edition of 1000 which has been produced by Peter Tasker, a writer and analyst, and Mark Pearson of Zen Foto Gallery. It comes in an attractive box which contains the long out-of-print Japanese original and translations of the individual essays with copious notes and large-format copies of the accompanying photographs by Daido Moriyama, Takuma Nakahira and Terayama himself.
