In East Asia, serious human rights violations continue to be committed. Torture, execution, and suppression of freedom of expression continue. Amnesty International investigates and documents these and other human rights issues; this work is fundamental to our advocacy and lobbying efforts. Our Researchers are from wide-ranging backgrounds such as activism, academia, the law, or journalism and can identify and thoroughly investigate those issues and ensure our voice has authority.
About the role
We’re looking for a Researcher to join our East Asia team to focus on North Korea, South Korea, Japan and Mongolia. You’ll take the lead responsibility for initiating strategy and a programme of human rights research and action by providing country expertise, research skills and sound political judgement.
About you
You’ll have excellent writing and research skills and are comfortable working as part of a large and diverse team. Having worked on human rights issues, you’ll have worked in or have substantial knowledge of East Asia. Fluency in written and spoken English and a relevant East Asian language is essential.
About us
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they’re denied. Already our network of over three million members and supporters is making a difference in 150 countries. And whether we’re applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we’re all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
