The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nagoya City University (and the Department of Intercultural Studies, School of Humanities and Social Sciences) is looking to appoint an associate professor/lecturer of Japanese Studies or comparative cultural (including Japanese Culture) as follows:

1. Position : One tenure/permanent associate professorship or lectureship in Japanese studies in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nagoya City University (and the Department of Intercultural Studies, School of Humanities and Social Sciences). Annual salary will be between 5000000-8000000 Yen depending on an academic carrier.

2. Academic field: Japanese Studies in the global context

3. Courses to teach: Japanese Cultural Studies (Graduate Courses), Japanese Culture in world context, Japanese Culture, Introductory of International Japanese Studies, Japan and Global Society, Field Studies, Seminars for the second, third and final years students including supervising the graduate dissertations, the First Year general course (Undergraduate Courses)

4.Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. (or equivalent qualification)
2. A native speaker of English or a person with an equal English ability with a strong commitment to English education
3. Teaching experience at University level preferred
4. A Japanese ability good enough to participate in faculty activities such as administrative work
5. Residence in Nagoya or its vicinity after the appointment Date of Employment: 1 April 2014
