Job Purpose
To teach beginning and intermediate level Japanese language to students in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Reports To: Department Chair of Foreign Languages
Description of Duties and Tasks
- Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Instructs students in beginning and intermediate level Japanese courses.
- Prepares syllabi and classroom instruction for Japanese courses; maintains regular office hours; maintains and submits accurate and timely student performance records according to College policies.
- Maintains professional competencies in the subject area and instructional methodologies through professional development activities.
- May serve on departmental committees.
- May perform other related tasks as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and/or Executive Vice President.
Knowledge
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Required
- Native or near native fluency in Japanese.
- Effective instructional techniques and innovative modes of course delivery adaptable to a variety of learning styles.
- Capable of using current technologies in the classroom and online to convey course content.
- Principles and practices associated with Servant-Leadership.
Skills
Must possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Education
Required
In accordance with SACS accreditation standards, Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Japanese language and/or literature. SACS requirements may differ depending on the courses taught within the discipline.
