Job Opening: Lectureship in Japanese

University Lecturership in Japanese in association with The Queen’s College
Grade: 36S £42,883-£57,581 p.a.

The University proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Japanese from 1 September 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.  The University Lecturer will be required to carry out research in the field of Classical Japanese Literature; to give lectures, classes, and tutorials in Japanese including options in Classical Japanese literature; to examine; to supervise graduate students; and to play a part in the administrative work of the subject group and the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The person appointed may be offered a non-Tutorial Fellowship at The Queen’s College.

The successful applicant must hold a doctorate in a relevant field; have primary expertise in Classical Japanese literature and be able to demonstrate competence to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels; be able to demonstrate a commitment to publishing research of the highest calibre; be able and willing to undertake administrative responsibilities; and have good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
