The Institute of East Asian Art History at Heidelberg University, invites applications for a two-year, renewable untenured faculty position as
*Assistant Professor in the History of Japanese Art*

Responsibilities
Teaching of undergraduate seminars based on the field of interest; core curriculum courses within the BA-programme of East Asian Art History and East Asian Studies.
Advanced research, public talks, and publications in the History of East Asian Art / Japanese Art
Student counseling at all levels
Collaboration in developing the library holdings for Japanese Art History and cooperation in building the library of East Asian Studies under the lead of the head librarian
Administrative duties including the supervision of student assistants
Help in arranging the sojourn of visiting professors, especially the biannually invited Ishibashi visiting professors of Japanese art history, and occasional representational duties
Requirements
Applicants should hold a degree (ideally a PhD) in the History of Japanese Art and should have studied and researched in Japan. Excellent language skills in spoken and written German, Japanese and English are mandatory. Some administrative experience is of advantage. The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the members of the Centre for East Asian Studies and other institutes and departments is expected.
