Job Opening: Study Abroad Program Coordinator

Ohio University is hiring a Study Abroad Program Coordinator within the Office of Education Abroad. We seek a candidate with a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.

The program coordinator is an integral part of efforts to increase education abroad participation and ensure the continued high quality of Ohio University’s study abroad and exchange programs. This employee will work with faculty directors on the preparation, management, and execution of their programs abroad, as well as administer OHIO’s student exchange programs. S/he will also work closely with students preparing to go abroad from the beginning stages of choosing a program and pre-departure preparation to problem-solving with students overseas. Additionally, the program coordinator will develop and integrate service learning components into our faculty-led study abroad programs.

Essential Functions:
1. Manage assigned faculty-led study abroad programs.
2. Administer exchange programs, including preparing and presenting predeparture orientation for outgoing students and implementing integration activities for incoming students.
3. Develop and oversee service-learning initiatives associated with study abroad programs.
4. Promote the benefit of education abroad and Ohio University’s program offerings across campus through presentations, events sponsored by other university offices, and fairs.
5. Advise students on study abroad options and follow up with students interested in study abroad.
6. Develop and update Education Abroad website and print content as needed.
7. Present at mandatory pre-departure orientation.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; minimum of 6 months experience abroad (studying, working, volunteering, or interning). Demonstrated work experience within the field of international education, ideally for at least one year; preference given to work within education abroad.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree; experience working in a multicultural and/or international environment. Preference given to work within the field of education abroad. Prior work experience with faculty and service-learning initiatives.
