Youth For Understanding USA is offering scholarships for high school students interested in studying abroad in Japan for six weeks next summer. The deadline for applications is January 3, 2012— less than a month away! Youth For Understanding USA (YFU USA) is able to offer hundreds of scholarships for high school students to study abroad in Japan for six weeks in summer 2012.

Students on the YFU program live with carefully selected host families, learn and practice their Japanese language, and experience Japan firsthand for six weeks next summer.

Qualified applicants (in particular students who have studied Japanese) are needed for the following summer programs to Japan, some of which are sponsored in part by the Japanese government:

Japan-US Senate Youth Exchange
Japan-American Friendship Scholars
Okinawa Peace Scholarship
