Location: Onna-son, Okinawa, Japan
The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) will become a model for change in education and research with the best international graduate students, working side by side with world-class faculty in modern well-equipped laboratories. Responsibilities
Assist Principal Investigators and Researchers with professional support including:
- Manage and schedule appointments, maintain calendars, coordinate correspondence and emails, and other secretarial duties
- Assist with arrangements and organization of Principal Investigators’ educational and outreaching activities including workshops
- Arrange and manage both international and domestic travel
- Take minutes of meetings independently
- Prepare documents in English and Japanese, assist with translation and interpretation
- Receive and attend international visitors, and provide language support when required
Manage purchase order and procurement process of research supplies and equipment - Assist Principal Investigators and unit members in their integration into the community by providing various support necessary for daily life such as dealing with banks or phone companies
Qualifications
- Bachelors level education
- Excellent communication and writing skills in Japanese and English (TOEIC 800 or higher).
- Excellent organization skills
- Computer skills including experience with MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
- Ability to interact smoothly with unit members and other institute staff
- Experience working in an international setting is an advantage
- Secretarial and administrative experience
Compensation
In accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulation

Relocation, housing and commuting allowances, annual paid leave, summer holidays, national social insurance (shakai-hoken) includes health insurance, welfare pension insurance (kousei-nenkin-hoken), and worker’s accident compensation insurance (roudousya-saigai-hosyou-hoken).
