Position: Full-time East Asia Program Administrator
Description:
Under the direction of the Director of the East Asia Program, this manager is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the East Asia Program s administrative, financial, and HR activities. Provide program representation and structural support for the promotion and the study of East Asia at Cornell throughout the university and occasionally at national meetings. Serve as liaison with numerous units across campus. Provide leadership and administrative support for the programs public relations, outreach and development activities. Work with the Program director and relevant faculty committees in grant writing, organizing fellowship competitions, and developing new fund raising initiatives. Assist faculty in coordinating program events and community, regional, and national outreach. Supervise non-academic staff, which includes identifying and providing guidance toward goals and expectations and providing daily oversight and guidance; managing the performance management process; and providing coaching and development in order to maintain a strong, effective team. Oversee the update and production of program promotional literature. Oversee the design and maintenance of information technologies (website, databases, list serve).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years related experience in program management and supervisory capacity, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with grant writing, grant and contract management, financial management, endowed accounting, event planning, public relations and outreach at university, local, state, and national levels.
- Good working knowledge of office technology, including word processing, database management needed. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and some form of desktop publishing program; competency in managing and navigating through the standard databases.
- A proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple areas, events and deadlines, along with the ability to cultivate and maintain a collaborative and effective work environment, are necessary.
Preferred:
- M.A. degree.
- Skills and experience in intercultural communication desirable.
- Familiarity with East Asian culture and facility in an East Asian language desirable.
