The Department of Music is seeking an Orchestral Studies Administrative Assistant supporting the Director of Orchestral Studies. This is an on-going, 50% FTE, benefits-eligible position.

This position reports to the Director of Orchestral Studies and provides administrative support for him. The work includes scheduling, public relations, contracting ringers for concerts, budget creation and tracking, production assistance for the Pan-Asian Music Festival (in Winter Quarter each year), supervising student workers, and general administrative support. The work is fragmented, so the ability to be detail-oriented and proficient in office software is important.

Completed work is reviewed periodically for appropriateness and conformance with established policies.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as an orchestral or other musical ensemble performer or in arts management is required. Polished written communication skills in English (for press releases and grant applications) required. Ability to read music and or interest in/experience with Asian cultures a plus. Flexibility in personal schedule for events management on an occasional basis required.
