Fun Link Friday: Eigo Noto, DVD 1: Understanding Women

Eigo Noto (「英語ノート」) is the government-approved English language textbook for grades 5 and 6. While the overall content is decent, JET ALTs and CIRs who work in public elementary schools in Japan know just how incredibly awkward the conversations in the accompanying CDs are. Fortunately, some JETs created a hilarious video parody, in which the audio is re-purposed into a dating guide. I could go into further detail, but I think I’ll let the video “Eigo Noto, DVD 1: Understanding Women,” which won the Fukuyama Film Festival in 2010, speak for itself.

Whenever I feel down, this video is sure to bring a bit of mirth to my day. And yes, that “Yes! Yes! Yes! Let’s go!” bit is most certainly in the second volume of the text.
