The Department of History and Geography at Columbus State University (Columbus, GA) invites applications for a temporary position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in World History beginning August 2011. Though we invite applications from all fields pertaining to world history, applicants with specialties in African, Middle Eastern or Asian history will be given preference. The successful candidate will teach World History survey courses in addition to advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her area of expertise. The position is contingent upon state funding and may be renewed for an additional year pending annual review.

A Ph.D. in History and university teaching experience are preferred but applications from ABDs will be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for continued professional development, scholarship and community engagement. A successful criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment.
