POSITION:
The Department of Anthropology/Geography at California State University Stanislaus invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology. This position is designed for a person who can enrich the Anthropology curriculum and contribute to the College of the Arts curriculum with expertise in digital media and the visual representation of culture.

The successful candidate will have the relevant technical expertise in media production, an active research agenda that reflects the methodologies of visual anthropology, and a willingness to integrate students into their research. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching in Anthropology and teach in the following areas: Cultural Anthropology, Digital Media and Visual Anthropology, Peoples and Cultures of Asia, and Anthropology and Global Issues.

Additional duties will include programmatic development in digital media and visual anthropology at both the undergraduate and graduate (MA) levels. Effective teaching, scholarly productivity and service to the University are required for retention, promotion, and tenure. This position is contingent upon the continuing availability of authorized funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. in anthropology or related discipline and strong interdisciplinary training linking digital media production and visual/cultural anthropology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A potential candidate’s consideration will be enhanced by providing evidence of the successful application of new technologies to the visual representation of culture in global context and in ways that feature the rich cultural diversity of our region. A specialization in Southeast Asian cultures is desired.
